SMA Council Members Paid a Visit to BCCK
The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is located at Kuching Isthmus, between Pending Industrial Estate and Demak Laut Industrial Park.The Borneo Convention Centre (BCCK) in Kuching, Sarawak, is poised to boost Malaysia's growing appeal as the preferred destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE). Sitting on a 6ha waterfront overlooking a lush green forest, BCCK is a world-class convention centre with state-of-the-art facilities. It boasts the "Great Hall", which can house up to 5,000 people at one time. The 2,793 sq m pillarless hall can accommodate up to 2,100 people. There are 14 function rooms, a fine dining restaurant and a VIP lounge. BCCK has been officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on 2 March 2010. The Chief Minister of Sarawak, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will also be present. The Convention Centre was the brainchild of the Chief Minister. Construction began in 2007. BCCK has a unique rainforest-themed architecture, and a major feature of the centre's design is its roof, which is shaped in the form of a "rink" leaf, a rainforest plant that plays an important role in the local indigenous cultures.
At a business dialogue with YAB Pehin Sri Taib Bin Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak with the presence of other federal and state ministers on 18 August 2009. We appealed to YAB to allow us to use a small part of the Borneo Convention Centre to display Made-in-Sarawak products and services so that any business visitors whether local or from abroad could view all under one roof. In connection to the above, SMA Delegation visited Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and paid a courtesy call to Mr Trevor McCartney, the Chief Executive of BCCK on 4 September 2009. Photo below shows the delegation of SMA met Mr. Trevor McCartney, the Chief Executive of BCCK at the lobby. He was giving an introduction on the facilities available to the delegation.
