Some members attended Stakeholders Workshop on Industrial Relations Act, 1967 Amendment organized by the Department of Industrial Relations (Jabatan Perhubungan Perusahaan) Sarawak, an agency of Ministry of Human Resources at Pullman Hotel Kuching.
The Industrial Relations Act 1967 provides for the regulation of relations between employers and workmen or employee and their trade union and the prevention and settlement of trade disputes.
This Act emphasizes on direct negotiation between employers and workmen or employees and their trade unions to settle their differences and to regulate their collective relationship and to settle any dispute arising therefrom through their own effort and through mutually agreed procedures with minimal government intervention.
This Act provides the power to the Ministry of Human Resources to intervene and to refer at any stage any trade dispute to the Industrial Court for arbitration.

The briefing was aimed to update Malaysian companies especially in Sarawak on the business opportunities and the challenges when doing business in Guangzhou and Johannesburg. This briefing also introduced MATRADE online services and other ICT facilities provided by MATRADE.

Mr. Yeo Eng Hock, the Executive Secretary attended the Opening Ceremony of new Kubah Ria Complex at Jalan Matang, Kuching. The ceremony was officiated by YAB Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Chief Minister of Sarawak.
YB Datuk Talib Zulpilip, the Assistant Minister of Tourism and chairman of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) said that the new Kubah Ria Complex had a total of 93 units, of which 44 are food stalls when he was delivering his welcoming speech. The new Kubah Ria Complex was redeveloped by SEDC to replace the old Kubah Ria premises which was built in 1983 with a total of 59 units.

Mr. Lam Lee Onn, Council Member attended Briefing and Dialogue on the Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-Laws 2012 and Guidelines on Advertisements at Public Places for Local Authorities in Sarawak at Auditorium, Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS).
The reduction of licence fees for the erection and display of advertisements from RM350 per square metre per year, previously, to RM100 per square metre per year for the first 20 square metres and RM70 for every additional square metre per year, for areas under the City Councils and Municipal Councils. For areas under the District Councils, the licence fee is reduced from RM175 per square metre per year to RM70 per square metre per year for the first 20 square metres and RM50 for every additional square metre per year.
