Mr. Yeo Eng Hock, the Executive Secretary attended a Seminar on Annual Return Online, conducted by the Registry of Society at Federation of Kuching & Samarahan Chinese Associations.
Mr. Lai King Min (President), Mr. Joseph Lau Ka Hoo (Secretary-General), Mr. Louis Hii Lu Yik (Council Member) and Mr. Yeo Eng Hock (Executive Secretary) met Mr. Paul D'Arcy, Chief Executive Officer of Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and Mr. Joseph Chung, Director of Finance of BCCK. They discussed the suitability of products, samples and catalogue to be displayed in the showcase at BCCK.

Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank) has extended its network by opening another Representative Office in Kuching, Sarawak – making it the third EXIM Bank’s Representative Office in Malaysia.
The Representative Office located in Jalan Tun Jugah was officially declared open by YB Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Finance (II) and Minister of Local Government and Community Development representing the Right Honourable Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak. The event was followed by a seminar on trade and business opportunities conducted by EXIM Bank.
Mr. Chiou Huey Ping, the Vice-President attended the Official Opening Ceremony of EXIM Bank Kuching held at Hilton Hotel, Kuching.
Mr. Lai King Min, the President attended Tax Seminar on Budget 2014 organized by KPMG Tax Services Sdn Bhd (KPMG) at Four Points by Sheraton, Kuching
Mr. Stephen Ung Yuk Woo, Council Member attended a Focus Group Discussion on Reducing Regulatory Burden in Employment Area organized by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) at Hilton Hotel, Kuching.
The discussion was chaired by Ms Sue Holmes, the Associate of MPC, aimed to review the regulatory issues relating to workforce and employment in Sarawak.
The participant were discussing the regulations on processing of the application of employ foreign workers in Sarawak, including policy, levies, passes and visa, work permit, quota and sources of the foreign workers.
Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) has established a Regulatory Review Department in October 2010 to monitor, review and provide recommendations for smart regulation. MPC is targeting to substantially reduce the regulatory burden to businesses.

Mr. Chiou Huey Ping (Vice-President), Mr. Tie Tung Wei (Council Members) and some members attend GST Seminar Organised by Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Kuching at Grand Margherita Hotel, Kuching.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be implemented by 1 April 2015 to replace the current sales tax and service tax.The introduction of GST is one of the Government’s tax reform programs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing taxation system.

Sarawak State Entrepreneur Awards
Congratulations to Mr. Chai Tze Khin on being awarded the Sarawak State Entrepreneur of the year Awards 2013.
