The Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department as the Secretariat to the Programme on 1Malaysia Training Scheme (Program Skim Latihan 1Malaysia - SL1M) is inviting SMA member companies to participate in the above programme. EPU is targeting 1,000 companies to participate in this programme. The program was launched on 13 June 2012 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). Application is open from 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2016.
The Program on 1 Malaysia Training Scheme was initiated by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister to address the problem of unemployed graduates who have difficulties in securing a job after completing their studies. This programme has contributed in a big way in enhancing graduates employability through participation of companies such as Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and private companies throughout Malaysia. It is considered as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The main objective of 1 Malaysia Training Scheme is to enhance the employability of unemployed graduates by placing them for 6 - 12 months with partner companies so that they can acquire valuable workplace experience and strengthen their competencies and soft skills through on-the-job learning. The graduates will be paid an allowance of RM 1000 per month and will also give training in soft skills during attachment. The partner companies can either claim the allowance paid and the training expenses from HRDF fund or claim double tax deduction from their tax obligations.
