The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) is expanding the coverage of the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) Act 2001, with effect from April 1, by streamlining its eligibility criteria to Malaysian employers across all sub-sectors within the manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying sectors that employ a minimum of ten local employees.

Mr. Joseph Lau Ka Hoo (President) and Mr. Stephen Hii Hium Ung (Secretary-General) attended the Opening Ceremony of International Conference on Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Sarawak 2017(ICAAS 2017) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
YAB Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Chief Minister of Sarawak delivered his keynote address and officiated the opening of the international event.
YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development described that this conference was being held with three main objectives which focus on sharing of knowledge and best practices in agriculture and agro-based industry; exploring effective agriculture delivery system and to identify opportunities in the utilisation of digital technologies in order to leapfrog the development of sustainable and competitive agriculture.

The senior officers from Domestic Investment & Supply Chain Coordination Division, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and MIDA Sarawak visited SMA. They were entertained by Mr. Joseph Lau Ka Hoo, President of SMA and Mr. Tie Tung Wei, the Treasurer of SMA. The purpose of the visit was to promote Supply Chain Conference which will be held on November this year. Mr. Joseph Lau Ka Hoo, the President attended a Laboratory Session of Financial and Equipment Committee under the Technical Committee of the Sarawak Entrepreneurship Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC). The session was held at Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED) Sarawak, and chaired by Encik Esmawady bin Mohd Esa, the Director of SME Corp Malaysia, Sarawak.
SEDCC has been established to develop better synergy, create a more effective impact and share resources among entrepreneurs.

The purpose of the dialogue session is to update the business community on digital economy in Sarawak as well as to obtain feedback from the organisations.
