Programme on Training Scheme 1Malaysia
The Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department as the Secretariat to the Programme on Training Scheme 1Malaysia (Program Skim Latihan 1Malaysia - SL1M) is inviting SMA member companies to participate in the above programme. EPU is targeting 1,000 companies to participate in this programme. The program was launched on 13 June 2012 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). Application is open from 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2016.
The Program on Training Scheme 1 Malaysia was initiated by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister to address the problem of unemployed graduates who have difficulties in securing a job after completing their studies. This programme has contributed in a big way in enhancing graduates employability through participation of companies such as Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and private companies throughout Malaysia. It is considered as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
In an effort to encourage broader participation of companies in every state of Malaysia, the Government has announced a tax incentive in the form of Double Tax Deduction for those companies that participate in this Programme (SL1M) on 29 May 2012. The purpose of this incentive is to encourage and promote existing companies and others, regardless whether they are small or big to give their continuous commitment and support to this programme. As such, this will directly assist the unemployed graduates to enhance their employability. Priority will be given to graduates who come from a poor family and stays in remote areas.
