Malaysian Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Foundation
The Malaysian Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Foundation (MCWEF) is a non-profit and non-government organization founded on 6 July 2011. MCWEF was founded by the honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Soon Peng who visited several rural places with some Chinese group representatives or non-governmental organizations. Tan Sri Lim found that many of the poor were usually women or single mothers. They requested the government to give them some form of assistance.
Having made this discovery, the Lim Association conveyed this to the Prime Minister. Tan Sri Lim not only managed to get sponsors, but he also called on the Finance Department and put forward one million ringgit’s worth of personal security deposit. Finally the government loaned MCWEF RM 30 million for a micro-credit scheme to help Chinese Women in Malaysia to start small business.
