Malaysian Competition Act 2010 Is Enforced
The Competition Act 2010 is enforced on 1st January 2012. The Competition Act 2010 prohibits anti-competitive agreements and the abuse of dominant position in the market. The Act will help to provide a level playing field for business operating in Malaysia and promote economic development by protecting the process of competition domestically. This would result in better products and services as well as competitive prices in the market, therefore benefiting consumers.
The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) is an independent body established under the Competition Commission Act 2010 to enforce the Competition Act 2010. Its main role is to protect the competitive process for the benefit of businesses, consumers and the economy.
