Updated Import Mechanism for Iron and Steel Products
A Seminar on Updated Import Mechanism for Iron and Steel Products jointly organized by (MITI), (CIDB), and SIRIM Bhd was held on 7 February 2013 at Akademi Binaan Malaysia Wilayah Sarawak, Jalan Sultan Tengah, Kuching. The seminar aims to update all affected importers of iron, steel and aluminium products to the new scope of implementation and to provide platform for the companies to highlight related matters.
With effect from 21 February 2013, the Government stopped the issuance of Temporary Certificate of Approval (TCOA) for the importation of iron and steel products. A fast track clearance facility will be provided to existing TCOA users for 6 months.
After the grace period of 6 months, all companies will need to apply for Certificate of Approval using the streamlined methods by SIRIM/CIDB.

Paper 2: Tariff Lines for Iron and Steel, Determining the Right Tariff Lines
